Gulf County and the Gulf County Tourist Development Council are continuing to closely monitor the off-shore oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.  We are meeting throughout each day with local, state and federal officials and will continue to advise our tourism industry partners, local businesses and area visitors on any new developments. While we are taking every precaution possible to minimize any potential impact. Fact is ? We have not been affected! Our beaches and waters are open! Q&A FOR VISITORS AND RESIDENTS

Is the oil spill going to affect Gulf County beaches?
The oil spill has not impacted our beaches. Wind and current conditions are keeping the oil spill away from Florida?s coastline. We cannot forecast beyond 3-5 days, but have no reasons to believe we will be adversely affected at this point. We will keep you posted should that change.

Are the beaches open? Can I go swimming?
Yes, our beaches are open and the water is fine. Right now, our beaches and our water are beautiful.

No, there are no fumes. Should I cancel my hotel room this weekend? Next week? Memorial Day weekend? Fourth of July?
Right now, everything is open, and it?s business - and pleasure - as usual. We have not been impacted by the oil spill. We wish we could give you a more definite answer, but the best we can do is update you with what we find out daily.

Will I be allowed to cancel my reservation?
At this time g3 Rental Group's position to our current and potential guests will be to adhere to our Cancellation Policy (below).  Please have patience and wait to cancel any trips that are more than 30 days out. IF the oil slick reaches our beaches, there will be immediate response to clean and re-open the beaches for your enjoyment, and we will keep you informed in a timely manner of our current conditions.

Cancellation/Refunds:  If you should have to cancel your reservation or reschedule, please call our office immediately.  Rentals may be cancelled within 10 calendar days (grace period) of making the reservations without penalty and all deposits will be refunded.  After the 10 day grace period, the Reservation & Confirmation policies (as defined) will be in effect.  Any monies paid, less the cancellation fee of $100.00 will only be refunded only if the property is re-rented for the same rate and time.  If the property is not re-rented the guest forfeits all deposits and/or money paid.

Please note that CSA Travel Insurance DOES NOT cover the unfortunate oil spill.


What is being done to contain the spill?
The Deepwater Horizon Response Team (U.S. Coast Guard, Homeland Security, NOAA, BP, Transocean and the Department of the Interior) is working diligently to contain the oil spill. For details, go to www.deepwaterhorizonresponse.com .

What is being done as a precaution should the oil spill come our way?
Gulf County has developed an extensive protective plan that will help protect and clean all beaches, bays and interior waterways in the event that oil should sometime come our way. The plan includes multiple levels of hard, soft and absorption boom.
